Saitec Offshore Technologies is looking for a new Floating Offshore Wind Engineer to join the team in our office in Leioa (Bilbao area). Check out this role if you are passionate about renewable energy and would like to take on a new challenge in your career development within the pioneer industry of floating wind.

Saitec Offshore Technologies was born around the SATH floating wind concept and right now provides consultancy and engineering services for different types of offshore energies. One of our main current projects is the DemoSATH, a 2MW wind turbine that will become the first floating wind turbine connected to the Spanish grid.

Your will:

  • Perform hydrostatic and hydrodynamic calculations with commercial panel codes and in-house tools.
  • Participate in wave basin experiments, help in the preparation of the test campaign, hands on in the basin and in the office performing analysis on the test data.
  • Be part of the team performing analysis and maintaining the monitoring system of DemoSATH, the first floating offshore wind turbine connected to the Spanish grid.
  • Develop the technology and engineering knowledge in a booming industry with access to international research projects and other industry leaders and participate in international conferences.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of tools and software to ensure efficient workflows between different departments.
  • Participate in the certification process of current and future projects.

 The successful candidate should have:

  • A degree in Engineering or Physics (preferably Master’s): Naval, Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or in similar topics) with a focus on dynamics and offshore or coastal engineering and naval architecture.
  • 5-8 years of experience in offshore, naval or similar industries.
  • Good understanding of the dynamics and stability requirements of a floating body: hydrodynamics and structural dynamics.
  • Ability to work with large datasets, good analytical skills and ability to produce quality documentation from experimental data and for certification agencies.
  • Some experience with a programming language, preferably Python or Matlab.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish. Other languages are also a plus.

It would be best if you

  • Have some experience working with panel codes, such as Wadam, WAMIT, Ansys Aqwa or similar.
  • Are somewhat familiar with coupled analysis codes, such as OpenFAST, SIMA or DeepLines.
  • Feel comfortable working hands on in test basins or on site, setting up, reading from and analyzing the data from sensors and monitoring systems, and understand the basics of sensors/monitoring systems.
  • Are proactive, enjoy working on your own and along with your colleagues.
  • Take responsibility for delivering professional high-quality work in time.
  • Have good communication and social skills.
