Bluefloat Energy is looking for a Mooring Lead Engineer, who is passionate about offshore wind technologies and enjoys the unique challenges of growing business in an emerging industry. With a corporate vision of accelerating the global deployment of offshore wind as a key enabler for the energy transition and economic growth, BlueFloat Energy is developing offshore wind energy projects in multiple geographies.

You will join a dynamic and highly motivated team of energy professionals who have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in executing floating offshore wind projects.

Reporting to the Head of Mooring systems and assigned to the Floating Foundations Package Manager, the Mooring Lead Engineer would support STROMAR Offshore Wind Farm in preparing studies to build the strategies of the project, performing market analysis and engaging with the supply chain.

STROMAR Offshore Wind Farm is sponsored by BlueFloat Energy, Ørsted and Renantis in partnership. The project is located off Caithness, East of Scotland, and will have a capacity of 1 GW. The consortium is well placed to deliver world-class floating offshore projects in Scotland bringing together valuable experience, where BlueFloat Energy provides unique experience in floating wind farm development to the partnership.

In addition to the STROMAR Offshore Wind Farm project function, the candidate will support the Head of the Mooring systems with the developments of the BlueFloat Energy portfolio globally on the mooring perspective.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Preparation of the technology development plans to suit the targets of the floating wind project pipeline.
  • In coordination with the project team and the technical team, define and optimize mooring strategies for STROMAR and rest of the BlueFloat Energy portfolio projects.Define scope of work of mooring studies for external parties, perform offers benchmark and run technical and commercial clarifications.Provide project organisation with mooring specific risks profiles.
  • Provide inputs to geoscience manager for site surveys.
  • In coordination with geoscience manager, floater specialists, T&I manager and external parties, define optimal anchoring points for projects.
  • Review, analyse and challenge methodologies and results from external specialists
  • Maintain close relationship with mooring supply chain, evaluate projects needs, contribute to supply chain discussions for capacities booking.
  • Support projects globally with tender notes relevant section.
  • Keep an active tracking of industry developments and progresses, as well as class certification standards evolution.
  • Contribute actively to R&D projects BlueFloat Energy is part of.
  • Ensure a proper implementation of high-level H&S requirements throughout all phases of the project, from design to operation and maintenance phases.
  • Availability to travel to visit facilities and attend meetings, as per work requirements.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years + of experience with design and engineering of offshore permanent floating structures (Floating wind, FPSO, Semi-submersibles).
  • Experience with some of the following software: DEEPLINES, Orcalfex, AQWA.
  • Experience with industrial mooring design scopes.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Master´s Degree (Naval architecture, Hydrodynamics or Engineering (Mechanical or Marine).
  • Mastering of industry standards codes and recommended practices.
  • Knowledgeable about supply chain capacities and limits, awareness of T&I restrictions.
  • Demonstrated track record performing mooring analysis (extreme, operational) and fatigue analysis on permanent mooring systems by using some of the following software: DEEPLINES, Orcaflex, AQWA.
  • Curious, open minded to innovations and R&D programs.
  • Excellent team working skills to contribute collaboratively, confidently and with high integrity.
  • Systematic and detail-oriented approach to deliver high-quality solutions. Creative approach to problem solving.
  • An ability to take initiatives and own projects, delivering results in an environment with multiple and parallel demands.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to develop new methods of working from scratch and show agility and flexibility.

Ability to work across cultures and in different geographies.
Status to work in the European Union.
Willingness to travel abroad to support responsibilities.
